Spencer County Community, Due to forecasted inclement weather tomorrow during the early morning commute and through the afternoon, Spencer County Schools will utilize NTI Day #6 on Tuesday, February 11th, 2025. Spencer County Community; Due to a significant increase in illness affecting both our students and staff, Spencer County Schools will implement Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Days on February 4th and 5th, 2025. TigerCub Village will be CLOSED as well. Students should follow the NTI expectations that have communicated by their teachers and school. After consulting with the National Weather Service and considering the potential for hazardous weather conditions, including a Cold Weather Advisory for temperatures in the single digits below zero, and the risk of unsafe conditions in subzero temperatures 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 will implement 𝐍𝐓𝐈 𝐃𝐚𝐲 #𝟑 on 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓. 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 will operate on a 𝐭𝐰𝐨-𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞 tomorrow, 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏𝟑𝐭𝐡. 𝐓𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐮𝐛 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 will be 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍 on a normal schedule. After assessing bus routes today, we found that while our majority of our roads are in excellent condition, several challenges remain, including low-hanging tree limbs and multiple parked cars in cul-de-sacs and turnarounds. To ensure the safety of our students and drivers, we believe it would be beneficial for drivers to complete their routes after daylight hours. With the expected sunshine tomorrow, we anticipate more melting to occur, further improving turnaround conditions. We kindly ask that, if possible, keep cul-de-sacs clear of cars to help our buses navigate turnarounds safely. Thank you for your understanding! Due to current impact of the winter storm, all Spencer County Schools, Tiger Cub Village, and our Central Office will be closed tomorrow, January 6, 2025. As a reminder, tomorrow was already designated as a District Professional Development Day for staff, so no classes were scheduled for students. We will continue to monitor the storm’s impact, including potential power outages, and will make a decision regarding school for Tuesday, January 7, 2025, as soon as possible.

𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞: District administrators are closely monitoring the potential for winter weather Sunday through Monday. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority when making decisions regarding school closures. Last week our 8th grade class from SCMS, as well as a small group of 9th grade students from SCHS, visited the Shelby County Area Technology Center (ATC) to learn more about the school’s career pathways opportunities. These high-demand pathways include areas such as pre-nursing and dental, welding, machine tool, industrial maintenance, automotive and diesel technology, business and information technology (IT). Mark Your Calendar! If you and your student are interested in learning more, make plans to attend the Shelby County ATC’s Open House on January 16, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Due to the number of driver call-ins this morning, I am required to create a double route. This primarily impacts Routes 21 & 22. I have outlined the adjusted schedule below. SCHS students and families- join Bears in Overtime, FRYSC, Spencer County CAN and Mrs. Waller for our Christmas Family Fun Night on Monday, December 2nd from 6-8 PM! There will be crafts, activities, desserts, photo stations, and dinner provided by SCHS culinary students. There will also be opportunities to win prizes by bringing donations of canned goods or new/ gently used coats.
