Last week TES kindergarteners enjoyed reading and learning about the folktales, The 3 Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood. They practiced being active collaborators by acting out the stories. And, they ended the week by building the 3 little pigsโ€™ houses during a special snack time.

Our 5th graders are stepping back in time to the 1960s as we get ready to dive into our new novel study The Watsons Go to Birmingham! ๐Ÿ“š This week, students explored what life was like during that decade - discovering 60s fashion, culture, and entertainment. The best part? Learning how to dance The Twist! ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿผ Weโ€™re so excited to see how this background knowledge brings the story to life in the weeks ahead.

Spencer County Community;

As we navigate this young school year, we want to ensure our district communication systems are a point of pride. Your ability to receive timely and accurate information, especially during an emergency, is one of our top priorities.

Today, we are conducting a comprehensive test of our communication systems, which includes phone calls, text messages, emails, and app notifications. This test will help us verify that our systems are working correctly and that your contact information is up to date.

To help us ensure a seamless communication experience for everyone, we kindly ask that you take a few moments to do the following:

Update Your Information: Whenever you change your phone number or email address, please call your child's school or the district office to have your contact information updated. We can't reach you if our records aren't accurate!

Keep Your SC Schools App Updated: Please make sure the SC Schools app is installed and regularly UPDATED on your device and that notifications are turned ON. This is one of the fastest ways we will communicate important information.

Let Us Know If You Didn't Receive It: If you did not receive this message as a phone call, text, email, and app notification, please let us know so we can help resolve the issue for you.

Thank you for your partnership. We are committed to making sure we can connect with every one of our families. We look forward to a fantastic school year!

Sincerely,
Dr. Willie Foster,
Superintendent

TES Families: In the next few days, you should receive your parent access codes in your child's take home folder. You will receive two parent codes. If you have already created accounts in previous years, your password will remain the same. You can click forgot password if needed. You can stay up to date on your child's behavior using this app. Please contact your child's homeroom teacher or the school if you have any questions. Thank you!

As you are aware, we have hired three new full-time drivers to help address capacity challenges and improve on-time arrivals. With that being said, several bus route changes will take effect Monday. These updates will help balance loads, reduce travel times, and keep routes running efficiently. As we continue to grow as a district, we will face some growing pains. Attached is information relating to route changes, an announcement has also been posted in Rooms.

The following routes will have changes โ€” some are major, some are minor: ๐Ÿ, ๐Ÿ‘, ๐Ÿ’, ๐Ÿ“, ๐Ÿ”, ๐Ÿ•, ๐Ÿ—, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ–.

Please verify the stop times and locations for your student. Weโ€™ve made high school and middle school loading as efficient as possibleโ€”both schools now clear the lot in about three minutes. Our elementary departure times depend entirely on how quickly the high school/middle school routes run which is part of the puzzle we are working to solve. With many sports starting earlier, and temperature, our goal is to get students home as quickly as possible.

๐„๐ฅ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐š๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ โ€“ Please update your childโ€™s transportation tag with the correct route before Monday morning. Stop times are estimates and will briefly change as we run these new routes. There are very few actual stop locations have changed. Some times may be big adjustments, but theyโ€™ll help close the gap between first and last drop-offs, get students home earlier, and leave a little more room on buses.

We know it will take a few days to settle into the new schedule, but these changes will make a positive difference for all riders.

If you have any questions, please email cameron.chesser@spencer.kyschools.us or send a message to me in Rooms and I will answer throughout the weekend.

Mrs. Hollan's class played a game today called Wiggly Worm. Students had to match their gummy worm to another student's worm and then introduce themselves. They were Effective Communicators. Awesome job, Hollan's Heroes!

Ms Voegeleโ€™s third grade class participated in a STEM team building activity this morning when students were asked to build a roller coaster made out of straws and masking tape. It was a great chance for students to practice communication skills, problem-solving skills, as well as create a positive work environment between new friends. Great job to the classroom winner. The winnerโ€™s ping pong ball made it all the way to the end of the coaster!
