We wanted to make sure all parents were notified that it was a practice drill. Our main goal is to always keep our Cubs safe.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALL PARENTS! We're thrilled to inform you that we will be conducting a test of our communication system! WHEN? Wednesday 10/2 & Wednesday 10/9. TIME? 5:00 pm.
During this time, you will receive a test email, text message, and phone call. This is a great opportunity to ensure you stay connected and receive important updates from us! Students in Ms. Coots class put together Fall Festival baskets with the direction of Ms. Kanerviko. They organized items in each basket, researched the price of each item and rounded up the price for an estimated total of each basket. They also listed each item in each basket on a Google Doc. What a great real-world application of estimating, technology use, and teamwork! We are proud of students for being active collaborators to create this basket for the auction!

The past few weeks Mrs. Macโs class has been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. Today we got to release them!

3rd grade students worked on their Profile of a Learner: Empowered Learners skill by completing a goals project. Students created posters that showed their goals for 3rd grade, five years, ten years, and life. We canโt wait to watch them work hard to reach their goals!

Spencer County Community;
I hope this message finds you safe and well. As you know, our area faced a significant weather event that resulted in the cancellation of school on Friday, September 27, 2024. While decisions like these often prompt varied opinions, the safety and well-being of our students and staff will always be our top priority. On Friday, several of our schoolsโTES, SCHS, SCMS, and SCESโdid experience power outages, and some areas within Spencer County were without power into the weekend. Any time that one of our schools goes without power there are obvious safety concerns, challenges serving meals, and loss of communication.
Additionally, I realize that communication on Friday morning was not as smooth as it should have been. I apologize for any confusion or frustration this may have caused. We went to work on getting the issue rectified immediately and were able to identify and correct the cause that led to some not receiving the notification email/text/call on Friday morning. To be certain, we will be conducting tests over the next two weeks to verify that any remaining issue(s) have been corrected prior to Fall Break.
Lastly, we will be required to make up for Fridayโs cancellation. We will address that in the future as we gain a better handle on the impact of winter weather over the coming months.
Your patience and grace are greatly appreciated. Do not hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns. Have a great week!
Best,
Dr. Willie Foster

1, 2, 3, 4....We declare a Penny War!
Our annual Penny War starts on Monday. Students can bring in money to vote for (or against) their favorite team. It's a Wildcat vs Cardinal showdown!
Rules: (We help the Cubs)
1. Pennies count as votes towards your team.
2. Silver coins and cash take away votes.
Money is collected every morning next week. On Friday students can purchase red or blue glow necklaces for our Fall Festival Pep-Rally.
Take the weekend to look for change under your couches. Our Cubs LOVE this tradition! We can't wait for our Fall Festival on Friday!!!

School Closing Announcement: Tiger Cub Village will be CLOSED today, September 27th, 2024.

Spencer County Community;
Due to the forecasted wind speeds and potential for flooding, Spencer County schools will be closed on Friday, September 27, 2024.
The National Weather Service forecast indicates potentially unsafe conditions for our students and staff that will affect both arrival and dismissal.
We will address and communicate make-up information at a future date.
TigerCub Village will be open.
A decision on extracurricular activities will be made by midday.
We hope our families and students stay safe this weekend. We look forward to seeing our students and staff back in classrooms on Monday morning!!
Best,
Dr. Willie Foster, Superintendent

Don't forget that it is on Sunday
